Scott holds an MBA from the City University of Seattle with an emphasis in finance and is Certified Investment Management Analyst from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School; he is also a Certified Financial Planning Practitioner (™) through the University of California at Berkeley; and is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary.
Besides being one of the initial founders of Alexander Beard USA, Schwartz has an empirical background in finance with over two decades of experience managing money and doing financial consulting for high net individuals including expats, “tech companies” in Silicon Valley, California, and overseeing over $5 Billion in Airline Pension Funds.
Schwartz has experience as a captain for two global airlines. Besides spending time in the air he has sailed the world's oceans in small sailing vessels, including the North and South Pacific, Atlantic, Mediterranean, Caribbean, and the Southern Ocean.
He is a member of the Explorers Club of New York and The Royal Yacht Association in England. Schwartz lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife of over 33 years and has two adult daughters.
Mark began his career more than 17 years ago, working for international investment banks in multiple jurisdictions. He progressed into the wealth management arena working within private banks, providing advice to high net worth clients.
Mark is a qualified registered investment adviser in the United States and also holds relevant UK adviser qualifications. This enables him to better assist clients with assets in either jurisdiction and provide them with a holistic service. Mark is currently in the Chartered Financial Analyst program with the aim of becoming chartered.
He predominantly specializes in assisting and providing advice specifically tailored to British expatriates now living in the United States.
Mark is married to Christina, a private tutor and teacher, whose daughter is currently at University. They are all Manchester United fans!
Japanese by birth, and long-term resident in the United States, ‘Sam’ Tagaya, as he is widely known to his Western friends and associates, has over 38 years financial services experience, spanning three continents.
Having acquired his Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University in Medford Massachusetts, Sam went on to graduate from Cornell University Law School with a J.D. degree with specialization in International Legal Affairs. Following four years as a general corporate attorney in New York City, Sam became an investment banker with a major Wall Street securities firm, becoming one of the original members of its office in Tokyo, Japan. He subsequently ran the Asian desk in San Francisco and London, gaining broad experience in equities, fixed-income and foreign exchange.
Following retirement from the world of institutional investment banking, Sam returned to San Francisco, which he now considers home, and became active in the field of early-stage private equity investments, as well as insurance.
Aside from his professional activities, Sam pursues a serious avocation as a published author in the field of military aviation history. Sam is married to Edna, a former diplomat with the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, and they have two adult children, a daughter and son.
